In supporting the mission of the Benefit Fund, The DSABC plans to introduce some new events alongside events currently supported and include the following:
CHILDRENS’ ADVOCACY LUNCHEON
Hoping to become an annual event, this lunch will include guest speakers from Child Protective Services, Bexar County District Attorneys Office, The Heidi Search Center, etc. 100 % of the proceeds from the luncheon will be donated to children’s advocacy groups in Bexar County.
THE DSABC SCHOOL SUPPLIES DRIVE
This is an on-going event supported by the DSABC to ensure continuous efforts are made for the donation of school supplies which are provided to school districts who then in turn distribute the supplies to children of families in need.
EASTER EGG HUNT & BASKET GIVEAWAY
Every year, the DSABC host an Easter Egg Hunt for the children of Bexar County. This event is held is an environment safe for the family and all in attendance with food and music donated by the DSABC. Deputy Bunny also makes a visit to Santa Rosa and Methodist Children’s Hospital presenting Easter baskets filled with eggs and fun to all children patients.
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT & THE GHOST PATROL
Both events are outdoor affairs also held in a family safe environment with food and music. The purpose of these events is to encourage community involvement and interaction with their neighbors. A Halloween associated event, the Ghost Patrol is also geared toward providing community children with a safe environment to enjoy with a candy, fingerprinting, a “haunted house” and many other activities.
THE DSABC DEPUTY SANTA PROGRAM
The Deputy Santa Program is designed to bring Christmas joy to children of families in need. Every year, Deputy Santa presents children with gifts to make the holidays as enjoyable as possible. Deputy Santa also makes appearances at the request of community supported organizations and events.
THE DSABC SCHOLARSHIP FUND
The DSABC plans to establish a scholarship to be awarded to students planning to major in Criminal Justice. The scholarship will be based on financial need and past academic performance.
